Lend a hand to Habitat for Humanity with Accel-a-Date
Accel-a-Date is organizing and coordinating groups of singles who want to help Habitat for Humanity.
Dayton Ohio Habitat for Humanity (DOHH) is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to eliminating sub-standard housing and providing safe, simple, decent and affordable housing for families in need. The local chapter founded in 1983, has built 115 single-family homes for low-income families in Montgomery County. There are 15 houses on Dayton Habitat’s 2005 build schedule.
Habitat relies heavily upon volunteer labor during construction. Volunteer groups do most of the “hands-on” construction work. Volunteers are not required to have any previous construction experience -- since all tasks will be fully explained and demonstrated at the start of each workday. The workday runs 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Tuesday thru Saturday.
Habitat Volunteer Crew Leaders and Supervisors will teach you what you need to know for the day… NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!!! To ensure that each volunteer gets adequate training and supervision while on site, most sites will be limited to 10 volunteers.
These are not specifically dating events, but opportunities to stay active and involved in the community by volunteering with other singles in the community. But you'll meet other singles who are interested in making a difference, so who knows?
In an effort to help streamline the volunteer program for Dayton Habitat, please sign up via the Accel-a-Date site. We will be responsible for communicating information between Habitat and the volunteers.
